I’m setting up a pond at my house on the coast of sc. the pond is about 1500 gallons, if I wanted to put bass in it, should I try to find a heater for the winter or just use a de-icer?

Heater ... but bass can survive ( but not thrive) at quite low temperatures. I’d suggest one 1500w titanium heater would easily keep the pond ok (mid 60’s) over winter... IF ... you cover the pond.

What's the depth? Over 36 inches deep and you prob won't need much in the way of heaters

Buy one that is currently eating pellets, ebay often has some, the problem with wild fish, especially older ones is that they don't always switch to pellets easily
