What's the best way to setup an indoor pond? Many of the pics I've seen of them show large rocks and whatnot; what would be the easiest way to clean them? What kind of filter(s) would I need? Airation? Powerheads?

i could discuss this all day what exactly are you trying to achieve size wise and what exzctly are you gonna keep in it.. this will help us to give you some pointers... for my big rocks in the pond i scrub them all by hand really really well then i pour boiling water over them several times since they are to big to boil in a pan.. then let them cool off and in they go.... for filtration i build my own but most people buy the bgi pond filters.. for water movement i have 4 powerheads to create a circular current... and for aeration my wet dry hangs from the ceiling about 2' above the pond and it just drops the clean water about 2' into the pond this works great for aeration and aggitation

There are a lot of questions before the answers.

1How big a pond do you want?

2What are you going to keep in it

3How much of what are you going to keep in it

4 will it require heating

1,2,3, then = filtration if it’s a small pond with some gold fish in not a problem if you have a reasonable size pond with 2 large cats in it you require something a bit more substantial

Also some fish will dame them selves on large rocks I like my one bare as makes it simple to clean and easy to see my fish but that’s a preference.

My one is slightly off the ground so it can be siphoned the filter really is doing 90% of the work over filtrating is the thing. Don’t forget they can get hot so lots of air needs to go into the pond like rottbo my filter falls into the pond moving the water and putting air into it.

1. I'm not totally sure what I need. I'd like to have probably a 500 gal, but I'd like advice on that.

2. This is what will answer the first question. I have a TSCXRTC which I will be placing in the pond. I also would like to get a TSC down the road. That's all I plan on putting in it.

4. I do not plan on it requiring much heating if any. I don't have any heaters in any of my current fish tanks (largest one @ the moment is 80 gal) and they tend to stay between 78 & 82 degrees.

I plan on building it myself and having a "porthole" side so I can see the fish in an aquarium type setting, not just from the top. Any ideas on how feasible this is?
Would it be possible for you guys to post some pics of your ponds to give me some ideas? Let me know the size they are as well so I can get a good feeling of the size compared to the # of gallons (Largest I've seen is a rubbermaid 129 gal.) Thanks.
