Pond uv for aquarium

It can be very hard to remineralize water, especially to get it hard the way livebearers like it. If you want to stick with the RO I would keep crushed coral in the filter like carbon. This will help keep the water hard the way they like it.

What is the current pH of the tank?

I have a 40watt pond UV hooked up to an FX5 on my 125 gallon growout tank. I love it. Zero downsides IMO.

An "aquarium UV" and a "pond UV' are both units that house a UV-C emitting bulb...
