Dear Yanbbrox, yes as you said, I have read lots of ways about how to keep a pond, everybody has his own way and some people are too much kneen on the details. But I know very old abandoned houses with a small pond and kois in them, they help them selves:))
I also got the necessary equipment but first I am more interested to see how it goes on according to the rules of the nature so if I could find the right way.

But the rains are going to stop in short and the temp will rise. Will be in alert.
Thanks
No problem, hope it works out for you, it seems to be going well all natural

As the fish spawn, there will be other fish to eat the eggs. They can be removed, (I've used cotton mop heads as floating nest sites that can be removed after spawning). Its a lot of work and I don't raise them for feeders.
I don't do anything special anymore. I just let them go at it. all the other fish that eat the eats get a great source of protein for the spring. I think that some of the females (the ones that have been getting chased/harrassed) heel faster after a good gut load of roe.

sounds like you have had good luck but as you continue and start feeding more you will notice the parameter change at that point you might start doing all you have neglected too

Dear Jafrias;
I do not neglect any thing. Just trying to see if it will work out and for how long. More than 7 months all goes by it self. Yes may be in the coming hot days, I have to put my finger in but still 7-8 months is something.
A few days ago I repotted 7 water lilies and though I covered the pots with pebbles etc.the water is not clear now because of the dirt that came out during replacing the pots. Will wait till it settles.
Thanks for commenting.

My concern is your stocking density of your pond...too many fish and the ammonia and nitrite levels become to high... also, your filter should be large, at LEAST 50 gallons.. i have an 800 gallon pond, and 50 gallons is MORE than enough.. i suggest using 2 or three 50 gallon water drums as filters...and your water should be circulated at least once every 2 hours.. using a pond enzyme to boost the biological filtration capabilities of your filter would be ideal. your pond's biological stability won't be concrete for another year or two. After that point, water quality tests are nearly unnecessary... The ideal stocking density is 10 gallons per inch of fish.. few people ever reach this (including myself) but that's just for reference.

Also, your fish are in the ideal climate in the winter...
and for the first couple years, NEVER CLEAN THE BIO FILTER MEDIA.
The sludge helps filter out the ammonia and other fish waste... plants are also a good idea because they absorb nitrates and CO2 from the water...

BTW... what breeds of koi do you have??

Dear balrock043;
Here koi is not so much known because private ponds are not so often to see. Hobbiests are still bussy with the aquariums and for ponds time will come but not yet. Therefore you can not find special breeds of koi around. I believe mine are also just standart citizens. There are 24-26 of them, 2-3 is nearly 20 cms and pond is abt 2400 gal.

Thanks for all the information you have given. I know what you mean and I have extra filtes and UV steriliser but I don't use them because since nearly 8 months all seems going to be ok without them. I am also checking the water parameters quite often and allways keep my eyes on the behaviour of the fish.

When the heat goes up, I may use them, if necessary. But I just want to see how far the nature arranges all, without my interruption. If in summer I have to use the equipments for 2-3 months, so this is also ok and at the end I will have this experience observed with my own eyes. Let's wait and see.
Thanks for your comments

remember a pond & aquarium are very much alike,,i wonder if you stir the sediment what your parameters would read.. but it's working so keep checking parameters
IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT

Jafrias, good idea. I had never thought abt that. So today I will get some water out with full of sediments and see how the results will come out. Thanks.

Till now I was getting water about 20 cms below the pond level for to use to check the parameters. After the idea given by Jafrias, today I dipped the cup till the bottom and got it full with the black sediment and some water.
Happily or luckily I saw that the Nitrite level was 0,0 and the ammonia test showed "safe". We use the same equipment for a friend who has a small cement pond and get different values, time to time.
So, was a good result, that made me happy.
