I came out this morning to feed my crew of goldfish and 2 koi and found that I had been the victim of an evil (or very hungry) crew of raccoons!
I found that they had cracked my defenses of a critter net with 1/2 lb stones anchoring it around the edge of a 100 gallon preformed pond. The net was found 10' away under the bushes a about half of the stones were in the pond. Once that was down they went to dinner! 6 of my 7 fish gone in one night! and most of my big japanese trapdoor snails too, shells and scales EVERYWHERE, dirty paw prints and all, the dog didn't even bark!
I did have one survivor, one sole brown 'gold'fish, it must have hidden better than the rest and it was the darkest. I rehoused him in an unused 50gallon along with 2 other goldfish I am taking care of for a friend. I pulled the filter from the pond and used it in the tank in the garage, should be good for a little while.
I am going to ask my sister if she still has any cat traps for use at my house...I wound what the law is on disposing or relocating, I'll call animal control and see what they say tomorrow.
That's twice now I've lost All my stock!
Wait untill I get the big pond running, motion activated sprinklers, coon traps, and laserbeams!!! Fricken LASERBEAMS!
