I guess this is the wrong time to mention that I've bought more land across the river for another pond? But I'll use it for rescue fishes because so many outgrow their original tanks. :irked:
Thats really cool.

Thanks. It felt like a natural extension of my life's work haha

Plus my mum and two sisters take in stray cats; once even a day old kitten which I can tell you is more demanding than a human baby. At least human babies know how to s**t but for kittens you have to manually 'induce' it by simulating the mother's tongue. That was a bit too much for me. And even though we're Muslims my dad rescued a dog from someone who kept it chained/caged since birth that the hind legs never really developed. So he got it taken to the vet, made sure healthy as can be and one of his non-Muslim mates took it in I believe.

OT I know. Ban me! :banhim:

Dosent matter to me what your religion is.....Ive found that theres good and bad people in every religion (and among atheists) and obviously your one of the good ones. I used to do alot of reptile rescues when I was younger (turtles, lizards, frogs ,toads) and if I had the money now would definately do what your doing with the fish.

Actually I was commenting on the fact that Muslims in general won't go near a dog what more rescue one from a cruel owner. Why do they bother keeping animals if they're caged up or chained up 90% of the time?

Glad that someone rescues reptiles because I personally could not bring myself to handle them. The thought alone sends shivers down my spine.

Checking in for today... how many more ponds have you gotten now? :grinno:

I've actually got about 6-7 existing ponds with two more in the pipeline but spread over several properties. Some aren't suitable for monster fishes as I have ducks etc which would end-up as food.

Was supposed to take in a 3ft Alligator Gar this afternoon but scheduling didn't work out but I hope to get it relocated before Christmas. I wish I could do more as so many Arapaimas, RTCs, Pacus, Gars, etc are sold once the owners realize they can't afford to provide the proper environment. Most would attribute to LFS who provide false info but I doubt that's the case. Seems to be for bragging rights; temporary as it may be.

Wish I could do more but firstly I lack the knowledge and secondly feeding alone would cost a bomb. If there was a way of offsetting the costs by having an income generating pond that takes up 3/4 of some land I have while allocating the remainder for a rescue pond.

I realize I can't save every fish. My priority is our family orphanage which forms the basis of my life's work. Monster fishes are totally new to me though so take one step at a time.

I would put some rays in the pond thats in the house! Nice house!

Would love rays but they seem to be quite expensive in Malaysia. Wouldn't mind rescuing one. *fingers crossed* haha

Wow that is awesome!

Thanks!

Right now the river has overflowed the banks due to extreme monsoon season sweeping through S.E. Asia. Will update once rains have eased up and ground is dry/firm enough to begin excavation on new ponds. :(
