I had pool filter sand in my tank and loved it. Then I found color quartz sand and will probably never go back to PFS. If you don't have access to quartz sand PFS is your best option.

May I ask what grain size quartz sand your using and maybe where you found it?? Ide like to use pfs but quartz sounds much more appealing!

S grade and I'm in Cali so I got it from a wholesale pool supply place called SCP. A couple other members on hear have found it at flooring supply companies. You can search Estes colorquartz online and find a supplier. What area are you in?
Utah. Ill have to look that up thank you for replying. I've had my mind set on pfs but I do love the idea of a colored quartz sand for sure instead of a whitish sand. Darker or with multiple dark colors. Maybe a Burgundy or saddle color with specks of black and grey is what I would really love!!"
