Pool filter sand maintenance?

I want to get Pfs for my tank. I think it will look way better than gravel and its cheaper. I read however that it is harder to clean because the poop gets down in it like with gravke instead of sitting on top like other finer sand. Is this true? I need the coarse sand but want it easier to clean than gravel.

Okay thank you. Also where can I get pfs? Would they sell it at lowes or home depot? And I don't have another tank so would it work to remove all the gravel at the same time and put the sand in carefully as to not stir it up, then immediately add some cycle to it to avoid a mini cycle? I also hear of mixing in quickrete sand. Is this a coarse sand as well? I want it to darken it a bit.

They have both. In my area atleast and if im not mistaken its also on their website. I found it by all the other pool related stuff. My home depo keeps it outside

I found PFS at the Home Depot and they do keep it outside 5 and change for a 50lb bag.
 
The Lowes and home depot by me don't carry any pool stuff since there isn't a demand for it. There is a locally owned pool supply store in the area though where I got my PFS.
