pool filter sand

Yeah silica sand 20 is the correct one I think you should buy it from a pool store if you can because it is like $6-$8 bucks. Remember to rinse it well before you place it in your tank, I just did it for the first time with pool sand and since I rinsed it well my tank did not even cloud up when I placed the sand in like a lot of people told me it would. ;)
 
I've used pool filter sand without rinsing it and it didnt cloud the tank.
I would still suggest rinsing it though:)
 
i was wondering if pool filter sand with silica is harmful to bichers and datnoids..if so how come? thnx in advanced
 
well i heard dat some fishes scratch or sit on the sand a lot...does the silica scratch the fish?
 
If you look around youll find pool filter sand in a few different looks(color coarseness)pick one that suits the look youre going for
