Pool Filter Sand

sorry for the dp

Can you use the playsand? Over here I can get it cheap and it is pre-rinced, I was going to go with this type and re-wash it again anyway just to be sure. Does it look as good as the pool sand, or should I just go with pool sand instead?

ive just done a quick bit of searching about this for the past half hour or so... i think you CAN use the playsand but it just doesn't look as good and the grain size is much bigger, home depot has playsand for 3 bucks and pool sand for 6, so im gonna spend the extra 3 dollars on appearance personally

PlaySand is the only sand available in my area so I use it and it looks great. If you do use it, make sure to rinse it a LOT!

Yeah, there's nothing chemically wrong with play sand or anything, it's just a personal choice on appearance and feel. Even pre-washed will still need to be washed again. The sand grains rubbing together in the bag will generate a lot of new dust even in pre-washed stuff.
