So I've been doing some research and reading as always and stumbled upon this new craze. Apparently people have been getting pool filtration sand for their tanks. It's clean sand no chemicals added made for saltwater pools. It's significantly more affordable at only $10-$15 for 50lbs, it's a medium grain sand and it is inert. So far a lot of people have tried it with great success and it's natural sand so it's not white it has a nice natural blend of brown and other colors in it. I think I'm going to give it a try. Any thoughts?

Hate to burst your bubble but (pfs) pool filter sand has been used for a long time. anyways it's perfectly fine to use

Then someone should have shared that info sooner lol. I was about to spend $80-$120 on Aquarium sand before I found the article on Pool Filter Sand. Now I'm spending $13.

I use the black diamond blasting sand on a few tanks, love the way it looks. $8/50 lbs at tractor supply co. I've also used Quickrete All Purpose Sand for several tanks, which is like $3/50 lbs and has a nice natural look

morticia you could also just use regular play sand.like stated above its even cheaper than pfs

^ except with Playsand there is even more rinsing prior to it going into your tank... lol

Yeah I've never used playsand because I've read in dozens of places that it's really really dirty. The all purpose sand is surprisingly easy to rinse off

well im used to rinsing blasting sand so play sand is no big deal for me
