The pool isn't the dream... flooding the basement is for most of us LOL

always cheaper to heat the space than the tank it's in...

Hey!

I`m actually looking for something to heat properly the aquarium at low cost!

I`ve found that we can find pool`s heaters with the COP from 5 to 7.
(COP is how much energy the heat pump will give you more than an usual resistance heater)
Example: A heat pump with COP = 5 , will consume 1 kW and will give 5 kW to your tank.

The major problem of the usual pool heat pumps is that they are made in stainless steel or coper. Both are not good to the aquarium acid enviroment (and coper is dangerous to fish).

So, we have to buy a heat pump made with titanium... but I don`t know the market prices to it.
I believe that if you would heat only 1 tank, it would be monthly more affordable than heating the hole ambient... But it will require a lot of inicial investment!
(but you will not be soaked when you are gonna feed then!;) )

By the way, it would be great to put some Expanded polystyrene under and on the side of your tank if you are not gonna keep the ambient warm.

Good look in the process!

PS: Bass Lover!!! Do you have a thread with some pictures of your tank??? Thanks!!!!

always cheaper to heat the space than the tank it's in... :D Hard to live in a warm room like that though, I know my garage is kept at 83 degrees all year long and every time I go in there I am soaked within 10 mins if I have to work at all in there... just feedings causes some shirts to get "clingy" lol, mind you none of my tanks require heaters at all and I saw my bills drop when I made the switch so.... I'll live with it for the sake of saving some coin :D

never realized that, awesome advice.
