is it possible to put like a plexiglass window on an above ground pool?
i mean like cut out a section of an aluminium pool and caulk some plex to it, or would that not honlr the water and be a waste of money, time and a pool?

Yes, you have to make a frame on each side for it, and bolt it together (sort of like a porthole is). If the window is very large it will havew to follow the curviture of the wall.

thank you Dr. for that advise and all the advise you have given on some of my pretty wierd and 'out-there' questions, especiallythe pond related ones.

Never a problem, and nothing is weird after some of the projects I've done :nilly: . :D

I have made plexiglass windows on some of my aboveground pools. My pools are 10,000L circular aluminium with a plastic (PVC) lining but only 1.2m deep.

I use a sheet of 5mm perspex (is this the same as your plexiglass?) and a thin neoprene sheet between to make a watertight seal. Drill and then screw stainless steel nuts/bolts through the pool wall, neoprene and perspex approx every 50mm apart. The perspex is flexible enough to follow the pools wall curve. It is pretty easy but tedious work. The windows can be rectangular if you wish.

You could just build a waterproof container for a USB webcam, and get one of the usb-over-ethernet extenders... 200' reach for $80 or so... put the webcam in the pond/pool, view from inside and the comfort of your desk/chair/couch/etc. Spend some $$ and get a cam with pan tilt and zoom....

You could even set up a stream to the World using a old computer running Linux, VLC, and Darwin Streaming Server.

But then, I'm a geek. :)
