i have a swimming pool about 3 ft high and 12 ft across . It has been awile since it was used so i figured all the chlorine was gone.. it was gong enough not to show up on the test kit so i threw my 2 pacus in there and they were gone about 2 hrs later when i checked on them.. that was awile ago.

Gone as in dead, or gone as in not in the pool?

Gone as in under the bushes across the yard?

Not really a joke if that is the case, it is one problem with above ground ponds. a drape of mesh suspended above the pond and velcroed inside the rim prevents that and can always be remved or opened for viewing.

i took the thread to mean they died (just because of the reference to he thought it wouldnt be fish worthy chlorine wise) as opposed to the great escape, but maybe i'm wrong.

Gone as in was the temprature of the water the same as your tank or did you fill it with the hose.. Hoses have all kinda crap, if you did not fill it from a source of water that is from water softener then you still get chlorine.. how did you prep it? Did you cycle it like a new tank? So many questions :) Tell us please..:)

I can't imagine the chlorine killed the fish. Presumable he hadn't added any chlorine in a while and the pool filters were kept running.
