Learn me on ray poop...

What should a healthy turd be like? I hear by looking at the poop one can get a better understanding of their rays health. Ive been looking for some info but have yet to find any thing significant.

A healthy ray turd looks like bird poop in water to me...

Some stringy spongy stuff mixed in with some gelatinous fluid.

Bird poop eh?

So far the poops I have found with my two new rays are long helixical in shape and vary in color from a pinkish-tan to brown. I have noticed what appears to be long what filaments that seem to be 'holding' the turd together.

Im going to do a Prazi-pro bath tonight and possibly inject it in their nightcrawlers.

Thats sounds normal to me! My rays turds sometimes looks like thin springs with an eraser coloration to it....

Stop worrying so much!!!

This is kind of a wierd one to answer. If you really want to know if your ray's feces show signs of any problems it would be good to look at it under a microscope. That said, a microscope is not a common house hold item! In my experience heathy rays have feces that hold together well. It looks somewhat 'slinky' like because of the spiral valve that elasmos possess. Feces that are excessively stringy are worth investigating further. Color of feces is effected by what the animal is eating- red colored food in, somewhat red colored feces out!

Gr8, the eraser coloration analogy hits the nail square on the head! Yeah I need to change my avatar...sucks cause now I have no one to vote for...Mccain is no better then Billary or Osama. BTW my wife HATES your avatar. It actually really scares her! lol

Amazongirl, The feces do have a white stringy material in the middle. I closely examined some and did not see anything move like it was alive. I could get ahold of a microscope. Is there anything in particular I should look for?

Im just paranoid. Ive had rays in the past and lost one due to an internal parasite eating her from the inside out!

Well that is good. Im treating with prazi any how before the new girl gets here. Doing a bath and going to inject the PM feeding with a bit as well.

Odd thing is, the female who is eating me out of house and home is still skinnier then the male who I have yet seen eat!
