pooper scooooper

You are going to have to vac the tank. No way around it. Unless u get poop-be-gone!

Scatophagus literally means dung-eater. However, NO fish will directly consume already digested (metabolized) material. There's no benefit of nutrient in most feces. However, there are fish that will sift through this waste for any undigested material. The remaining unuseable material will be released back into the tank. This waste will require mechanical (filter/gravel-washer) removal.

Is there a fish or invert out there that eats Fish crap? I just put a 6" or 7" pleco in my 125g. He completely ate all the algae in my tank. the intire back glass and all my rocks were covered in agae and this was in a 24hr time frame. Then he pooped it all out on my white sand. and his crap is bigger than rat crap. But this pleco rocks :headbang2

There is no getting around cleaning your tank. And you're going to have to feed that plec something other than algae. Get a veggie clip and a gravel vac.

dont make the same mistake as me and type scat into google image search

 I just almost spit fried rice out my nose,Im sitting here eating dinner:ROFL:

I saw on the show "dirty jobs" and aquaculture farm where tilapia are fed striped bass dung as part of thier water reclamation and to produce both fish for food.

This wont help you though get a gravel vac

trust me im not trying to get around cleaning my tank. But it kills me every day after work my white sand looks like pepper. I do feed the pleco waffers. im not new. When you have a large pleco crappin all over your white sand and you need to vac it every day, then you would understand. yea i seen that dirty jobs and that is what got me thinking. Oh boy the things you do to have a pretty tank.

A powerhead/powerheads or spray bar/bars placed/aimed in the right way should be able to keep most of the poo in suspension, so that the filters can remove it for you.
ok i have a xp3 and a emp400 on it. On the xp3 I have the jet head on it should i switch to the spray bars?

Just have a powerhead with a spray bar (Real easy to DIY) and have it low on th tank. Make the water current flow over the sand, but not directly hitting it so it doesnt flow up. But just a light water movement to the poo will move it.

Mitchv10, I completely understand your dilemma!!! I went from sand to gravel, to making paths in my gravel so poop would flow along the glass bottom to the filters, to vacuming too often and I'm still looking for an answer so please post again if this spray bar works on sand.
