How does that happen? HITH? Is that a parasite of some sort?

HITH and LLE are hole in the head and lateral line erosion. It is two ways of describing the same disease. It affects mostly large cichlids. Oscars seem to be particularly sensitive to it. It is a disease that attacks the sensory pits on their heads and the lateral line on the side of the fish. Both are sensory organs, and the disease erodes them away. It is almost always linked to poor water conditions and/or poor diet.

Yep because they are the Lfs they know everything pfft! Instead of taking it as a learning curve and helping the Oscar give it to a noob and make money jerks! I'd say

I was at my lfs and were trying to pass off a oscar with HITH (hole in the head) As a CRATERHEAD Oscar! I was gonna try rescuing it but I didn't have the room or time to treat it. It was a FULL GROWN oscar for 10 bucks! but the tank next to it had newborn normal oscars for 14 bucks... So, it was pretty obvious. I hate it when fish stores are not honest!

I had a lps try talking me into a fish that had ankerworm, thand god I saw it. funny how they didnt say anything about it.

The thing here is that the lfs is selling it for a lot less than juvies, so they definitely know that there's something wrong. Which makes what they did here really bad. :/

I think they could tell that something was wrong. They are mean people.
