Thanks guys, I will try the salt and garlic idea.

What do you all mean exactly by garlic pellets though, I assume I have to make these? What do I do?....

Any reason to think it is a parasite and not an internal I fection?? Have you added any new fish to the tank? How long have you had him.

I had a keyhole cichlid get something like that I treated in a hospital tank with Maracyn 1 this will treat gram Positive bacterial infections. If that does not work try maracyn 2 this will treat the gram negitive bacterial infection. I have used this stuff and it saved my keyhole.

There is no way to know what it is unless you have a micro scope and check the stool for eggs or parasites. My guess is bacterial infection unless you fish was exposed to infected fish that could have had parasites. All the other fish look and act fine? If so I would put money on it being an infection. If it were parasites other fish would show signs.

Good luck it's best to treat in a hospital tank and do daily WC till well after treatment are done.

Okay I have just noticed what appears to be some white poo.

The garlic idea wont work, he is not interested in food AT ALL. He wont eat anything. What medicines can I try to treat this with? I am in the UK, if that makes any difference...

I would use clout if he has white stringy poo. It looks like he has parasites. If you CAN try to get him to eat some peas. You have to act fast. Do you have a QT tank? If so I would put him in there and treat him. Clout is very strong and should work.

Absolutley give it a shot, it looks like it would do a good job, internal and external.

Sometimes with internals the reproductive region gets enflamed and the tube will swell emitting discharge. Id look for a med containing Prazziquantel,
