A lot of males are sterile but I have two just like that that are a breeding pair. The sick one happened to be my spare female so give my other female a break but I still might let her. I will due those meds.

Should I stop feeding when medicating? She is eating like a pig which is good but I don't feed her a lot. 6-7 pellets once a day and some of them are medicated.

to be honest the swelling is gone the only inflammation is the outside of the eye thats white is a slight bulge. Like mentioned maybe cataract. I am 100 percent sure its trauma now since it was unilateral happened in a matter of 12 hours from being normal to WTF IS THAT stage. Every other fish in that tank about 8 of them are doing perfectly fine.

Sadly she was for sale at around 100$ for this egg laying female. I'll keep her to breed or as a dither fish lol
oh no, you treated the whole TANK with Penicillin?? It's kills Gram+ and Gram- Bacteria, which unfortunately means Beneficial Bacteria included.....you were supposed to use a hospital tank :( I would keep her in a hospital tank and keep using the Penicillin indefinitely until the eyes clear up. It won't affect breeding but the eye-issues may prevent her from defending herself against a pushy male

Nope shes been in a hospital tank! Don't worry. Okay so update it seems like the socket is out of the eye and is drooping down. Its not flush rather than seems like it lost cartilage holding it up. I'll attach a picture. Oh well it looks a lot worse in pictures but she is good now minus the eye. I believe she is not infected but rather things are dying off. She is not blind I think because she reacts to her eyes and she sees me both of them. I can see the infected eye moving away from me and towards me like theres a response.

The eyes are no longer parallel to each other there's a clear slope in the infected eye and it's the actual eye notniust the white stuff.

She is a funny nice fish. I like her personality and she gets jealous a lot when others are breeding. lol I just hope she just loses the eye so she's not suffering and necrosis doesn't infect her immune system

keep using the penicillin, it could be a secondary infection. Just keep using it for at least another week or so. You'd be surprised what fish can recover from, especially w/ medications to assist

Good news the sbrt is 80% better and cloudy is almost gone. I am going to do a water change once a week and do meds for another week for good measure. I am scared to put this girl in my community tank if she gets my other fish sick so I will try to use her to test my male flowerhorn fertility lol

Thanks frank!

Np, man....if another week goes by and improvements are minimal, keep using the penicillin and give it more time. Healing agents such as salt or Melafix/Pimafix can be used to help along the way if you desire, might speed things up a bit

Yeah I am just shocked how quickly shes recovering. Also sight is there. Its not even swollen anymore its the same. A little hazy but going to continue the treatment. I am going to do a large water change in two days and redose.
