whats the best way to treat popeye.a couple of fish had sores due to poor water conditions.treating with pimafix and mela-fix,sores are healing but now a couple of other fish have popeye.

The best thing to treat with popeye IMO is oxytetracycline. Also known as Bifuran. It's a yellow powder.

You can but it in a bag at Tractor Supply in the cattle medication section.

Put it in the water, and cover your food in it.

I've treated koi, frontosa, cichlids etc all with this.

Pima/Mela fix are junk. Don't even bother with it. It's all a gimmick. Some people swear by it, but I can tell you that I have NEVER seen anything good come out of it.

Get your water quality up there too.

What's the parameters? The gallonage? The stock?

I have a black skirt tetra that has it right now. Its left eye is completely bulging out. I am using cipro for two days now. I think he is going to kick the bucket anyway but I am still trying to fix hiim. I separated hi to a "hospital" tank.

Popeye is attributed to poor water quality, so separating him will do nothing. You need to treat the entire tank. It's caused by bacteria that gets inside the fish.

Yes, the pop eye effect will go away if treated.

What's your gallonage... your entire stock..?

60 gal. Just one fish. three days of cipro. he is moving around more and I think he is eating but the eye still is "popped" out

All this for a black skirt tetra? I honestly would have flushed it. Smaller fish are normally too far gone from the start to fix.
