Poret foam

I want to use poret foam as my mech filtration. the site where im going to buy it from has a 10,30,20 ppi. what does ppi mean? i was going to get 3 stages anyway but im just curious.

to me poret foam looks like its easier to maintain then poly fiberfil

but now that i looked at the prices again its super expensive

does anyone use this as mech filtration? i dont want to spend this kind of money to find out it wont work. im going to put this on my drip tray witch is going to have around 5,000 gph running through it.

I use Poret foam in my sump. The sump will have 3000gph running through it once the tank is finished but so far I have only tested the sump to be sure everything is plumbed correctly. In my testing, water ran through the foam very easily. I am using 20 and 30ppi foam along with 200 micron filter socks and 100 micron and 50 micron filter pads mixed in with the foam. actually ive read your thread already. im thinking about usining on my drip tray.
