O.K. ladies and gents, pull up a chair and have a seat...

i got the acrylic today and im going to start the work saterday or sunday. the sheets that i got are;

9.5mm thick, 24" X 36".
9.5mm thick 8" tall X 96" long.

total cost is $120 i got 3/8 because it will look alot better then say 1/8 which is alot cheaper, 1/8 is the thicknes that i would have needed to make it work but why do something if its not bomb proof...

the idea is this, a oddly shapped enclosure to house a rainbow crab, with a water plant of somekind some bamboo a pool about 6"X8" X 4" tall with a waterfall, and full of sand rocks and drift wood...

the plan is to cut two pieces of ply wood the shape of the parimiter, then abpout 50 2X2's 8" tall and screw them together to form the general shape that i want, then bend the 96" long piece around the jig while heating it up with a heatgun... sounds complicated eh?

it will be a sweet zen garden when done.

Should be interesting, looking forward to the updates....

got to see this completed

I Think its a cool concept, the only thing is that i hope that the 8" will be tall enough?

i already have to cut a inch off of the table legs to keep it from interfering with my TV watching when in recline mode. the plant will go on the lower right, this is also so it wont interfer with TV watching. :D...

i was going to use 1/8 - 1/4 and bend it around a mould to get a bowl kind of effect but i think this way is easyer and neater.

small update, i got some plywood for free since i didnt feel like useing any of my mdf or good ply for something thats getting throw away anyway, well unless anyone else wonts one?

here is the basic shape that i sketched out of some floor mats, i used some string at first then went to pencle then marker and i cut it out

and traced it ont two pieces of crappy plywood. keep in mind that this will be junk and is only used for bending the massive 3/8" thick avrylic into shape. then there will be two 2x2 risers inbetween them and a smooth plastic stapled to the outside of the contraption(cutoffs from truck mudflaps.)

and this is tha acrylic.

edit: yes that is my laundry room... its cold outsice so i'll be working here :D oh and the last pic, the white one is a volvo and the blue one is a sterling ;)

bending acryic, yes... and if i dont like it im gonna put a top on it and put in a few Black ghost knives....

but i just happen to like the crabs, they are pretty cool IMO well with a blue lobster or two...

Edit: how did your wood pond turn out??? it been a while since i was on here.
