I have seen lots of videos on you tube of paired up aros swimming side by side

well my aros are not doing that yet as i think that is the later stages of the pairing

what i am seeing is 2 aros one of which is the alpha in the tank holding the whole tank and taking it it turns to beat crap out of the other aros in the comm

they are showing NO aggression to each other at all but if one of the other aros brakes from the pack one or the other will attack

at the moment the possible pair use 5 foot of the 7 foot tank

now comes my dilemma do i sell the other 4 aros to leave the hopefully pair to get on with it

things that can go wrong after removing the other aros if they are not a pair they may rip each other to bits

anyone got any experience with this

thanks in advance

I'd wait more time, Richard. To see if it consolidates.

Does the male croak?

I heard this is a sign of pairing...

I have a large green male that croaks all the time...he does not have a female in the tank though.

He does it when pairing with other fish of a different specie...usually when rubbing/slapping against each other. I am not sure if this is a breeding or dominance thing.

My silver was bullying the jar (of all fish once paimas moved out) ... i though about curbing the aggression through adding another two bigger silvers plus a green.

Three days later, the word from home is that the same silver is still chasing the jar despite the presence of three more aros ... no damage to scales. hmmm jar has slightly nipped up tail. I mean they swim around the mid and bottom while circling each other. if by this weekend, there is serious fighting i might have to move jar out ...

i read that indoor breeding in aquariums is impossible and the only way is muddy ponds =)

not true

FYI, a guy in japan videoed his pair successfully breeding in his tank.

T1....Best of luck w/ the potential pairing!!!!!! A lot of people would luv to see a vid of the pair forming, myself included.
