I have been looking into getting a silver aro and was wondering this:

Is there anything I shouldn't feed it? My local walmart has a pound of mixed seafood (which includes octopus, clam, shrimp, imitation crab, hoki, and some sort of white meat that's cut into 'discs.') Are these safe for the aro or will they prove to be toxic?

couldnt really say

the meats it listed are fine but what else that could be added is beyond me.

ive never tried mollusks before for any of my aros, and i dont really know with imitation crab meat. better stick to the crustaceans

cant really tell accurately on the stuff youve mentioned coz never tried all of them myself

DeL, what exactly is imitation crab meat made of anyway?

Imitiation crab is made of fish actually. I dont know about feeding it to your aro. You might want to look at the ingredients and make sure it doesnt have any weird preservatives or additives like that. If you do decide to feed it to your fish, I wouldnt make it the staple food. You should feed your aro lots of different stuff to make it healthy and happy IMO.

Shrimps will be a good source.;)

the imitation crab here is made of North Atlantic Pollock, salt, water, preservatives. It's safe for humans, so prob safe for fish in limited amounts, but it's a processed food, so where is the nutritional value other than protein. It's not a shellfish so there's no iodine to speak of.
