Possible arowana fin rot?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Have you tested your water ? Looks like your water could be unbalanced either ammonia or pH crash can cause fins to split and shred

I would say ammonia my angels fins melted like that in a recent tank crash kind of frayed and turned to thread :(. Big water change for starters

Will be testing water tomorrow. If its fin rot does that mean my whole tank has fin rot disease?

does the aro in the tank solo or with tank mate? possible the tank mate picking on him? from jumping could possible and it can be also from fin rot. Test water first, if water is good, then not a fin rot.

Well the tsn was sick, it wouldn't be surprising if other fish were getting sick too.

Is this Aro in the same tank as the TSN?

Seems kind of odd that you are posting about two of your fish that appear to have the same symptoms as if they are completely unrelated.

To get some better feedback, please answer the following questions:

How is the TSN doing?

Are the Aro and the TSN in the same tank?

How large is the tank?

What are you using for filtration and at what flow rate?

What are the water parameters in the tank (AMMONIA, NITRITE and NITRATE)?

How often do you do water changes?

How much water do you change during your water changes (please answer as a percent of the overall system volume, or tell us how large the tank is and how many gallons you change)?

What are the NITRATES at right before you change the water (you need to test this before every water change to monitor if it is under control)?

Are there any other tank mates with the Aro and/or the TSN?

What is your feeding schedule and how much of what do you feed?

Are the fish in question eating ok?

Let's start with these and if you can provide this information then I'm sure that you will be able to get a lot of helpful advice.

I suspect that this will end the same way the TSN thread did...no real useful info and no data numbers to go by...he never gave ammonia, nitrite or nitrate numbers for his TSN and stated that he only does water changes 2-3 times a month, but would never say how much. The more info he can provide the more the forum will be able to help. Even if he is doing the wrong stuff now, it will be better to just admit it and move past it with the help of the forum rather than just giving vague info because he doesn't want anybody to know he might not be giving enough care...
