If i were you, i would keep it..
Since u have had it about a year now, its not easy to let it go.
How could u be so attached to something for about a year and suddenly you wanna get rid of it just because its a she...... Whatever sex it may be, lets be loyal to our pets. 'PLEASE DONT CHANGE YOUR PETS TO PEST'. If only your Oliver could talk, I wonder what it would say about you..

id take it too a good vet to be sure. It would be hard to let her go now as well. I def think that some more pics to make sure of the sex might help:D

yes i know thats not hjow to sex it but was just sayin a want more pics.:D lol

i second the be loyal to ur pets. there already are too few that can/will care more such a ]V[onster.:headbang2

If you can handle her keep her, if you cant it will be a lot easier to find a home now. You said yourself you were pushing your limits with a male. If it is a female you will also have to build a new cage very shortly and that bath tub you have will not be the huge water dish you were looking for. Just do what is in you and your snakes best intrest, you are going to be the one that will have her 10 years from now, not any one else.

+1. I would also get a second opinion on the sex. And, I don't think it is wrong or that you would be giving up on her if you feel that you can't take care of her for whatever reason. I admire more the person that can give that animal up to someone who can care for it properly, than the "pets are for life" principle and hang onto it until it suffers.

Well said.

hey there is a guy on MFK called "thesnakeguy". He has a huge collection of great looking snakes....send him a message and ask.

thanks for the compliment but I cant sex anything that is not sexually dimorphic with just a picture. My suggestion on the issue would be to get her sexed by at least another 3 or 4 herpers that have some idea of what they are doing. That should give you a better idea on whether or not your snake is a male or female.

If it is a female, I would start looking for a home for her now because a snake of that size is never easy to re-home. By the time she gets to be the size where you can no longer handle her you will want her out of your hands. If you are not worried about the monetary value of her you can try and donate her to a zoo or museum but just remember that this would be giving amateur herpetologists a bad name (by not being responsible enough to keep her, by not realizing what you got into, etc...) and they will not pay you anything and will probably teat you poorly....

Good luck and keep us posted.

Edit:
Keep in mind that 99% of vets can't tell one end of a snake from another unless they are specialists in the zoo field or exotic pets. I would trust an exotic pet store owner much more than the local vet here. If there is a local Herp society, take here there and ask around, I am sure SOMEONE can help....

Build a big enclosure for her. Better with you, even if not being handleable, than with someone else who might not care for her properly.
