  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am terrible at ID'ing young cichla so I won't even try. I will say that pbass is stunner! Going to look amazing when grown!:headbang2

I've seen that pattern on the tail before. It looks a lot like a hybrid mono x ocell to me though.

I have owned farmies before, and they were never as colorful. They were always dull and did not have fin spangling until 9 inches.

Here is a photo of Cichla pleiozona in the wild for comparison. Your fish looks close other than the head shape but only time will tell. BTW this photo was taken in Lago Largo, Bolivia near Trinidad.

Ya, I noticed the one pictured has a short face.

Great looking fish. IMO, I going for monoc. Does not have the same body shape or head shape of a pleizona. All in all I can be wrong cuz all cichla sp. Except temensis look the same @ that age! Time will tell and great pick up. Now grow him out and keep most of us updated!

Thank you, and I will

Thanks:D

Never said they were farmies, I said they look like hybrids (IE: could be wc Florida hybrids.)
And if you could get a good pic of the lateral line that would be great.

What would you do with a picture of the lateral line?

The pictures seem close enough...and I was wondering the same.

Some species have different lateral lines (even ocell's and mono's are different.)
