I was just windering what type if bass are in Florida? Is it just monos and occels? Or have any of you Florida guys ever caught azuls or kelberis or anything like that? Because that'd be crazy if their were rarer pbass in Florida.

They released tems and ocellaris but they said because tems are so finicky with water temps and that they don't hit sexual maturity for 5 years that they didn't last, fwc said they did a number of samples and have enough proof to say there are no tems left but I could have swore I caught one, although i do understand some ocellaris look very similar to tems, heres the pic

woah that is really strange for a florida bass all the ones ive sceen from florida look pretty bleak that one is nice.

Monoculous, Ocellaris, and Temensis were all introduced to South FL. As mentioned, Temensis did not survive in part due to drop in temps, and because the ones that were surviving were fished out before breeding.

Basically what remains are Monoc/Ocellaris Hybrids. Some will show stronger features on either side...Monoc or Ocellaris. Bring into play the amount of waterways we have, and 'private' neighborhoods that feed into and from the canals, and you will find varying markings amongst different locale.

You will find them very clean mono looking, Very Ocellaris, and everywhere in between. The populations in my neck of the woods have a LOT of speckling on the body. I know locals who will catch fry, or raise eggs from a nest. You'll see fry with 2 spots, 4 spots, 1 spot, all amongst a batch of normal marked siblings. Its a matter of what survives to adulthood to pass on their genes.

No Tems though. I am well aware of numerous 'sources' having tried to re-introduce them...havent seen any results though.
