I have a pond with goldfish that breed constantly throughout the summer, although the parents are orange, white, etc, when I drain the pond in fall , about 70% (maybe more) of the surviving juvies appear to be wild color (brown), and normal wild shape.
Don't know if this is because the wild type are harder for predators to find, or if the wild color is still the dominant one.
I believe many goldfish breeders hand pick the most colorful, and sell the rest as feeders.
