He was about 4-5 inches. Larger than the parrots were when they were introduce. There are actually 8 parrots in there. One is a rather small, about half the size of the other parrots that he leaves alone too. If they weren't all added all at once I don't think the outcome would have been so pleasant. Just make sure your tank/filtration can support such large addition of live stock.
Iowe beautiful set up. I have my male 7" with several smaller cichlids such as wolfs, jags and others. Apart from the odd chase aggression levels Re down.
Follen. You have yours with cichlids other then parrots? They don't shred up the flowerhorn fins? Tank specs please, pic? I like the flowerhorn as the centerpiece so I'd rather not have him beaten or shredded. On the flip side the tankmates I'd like them to stay alive though. So far so good with my flowerhorn and 2 parrots. He's more interested in watching the dog outside of tank and checking/rechecking feeding ring.
This is an old pic don't have the sexfasciatus in there now and a pic if my guy. Current stock is the big horn a veija hybrid a small jag, dovi a little female horn and two clowns My male only has one eye so this does cut down some aggression. Also now I have lots of pots upside down with small holes that only the smaller fish can hide in but only the clowns really use them. The tank is 400l and the other cichlids are not perminant.
Oh nice. I'm happy to see flowerhorn in a community type setup. Thanks for sharing. He does look rather peaceful in there and his fins are perfect. Much of the info I find on the web has the flowerhorn solo so it's reassuring to know a community style can be done without damaged fish. If anyone else has any set ups with flowerhorn a, please share. Cheers
Thanks for all the advice. I was able to get a few parrots(4) and green terrors(7) from a friend. These are his culls, most have curled gills or something, but just testing the waters anyhow. So far the flowerhorn is fine. No chasing. The Gt on the otherhand are super skinny, they were going to be feeders. Tried to vent out only females but my eyes ain't what they use to be. Crappy pic but you can get the idea.
