Hey guys so my Thai silk I noticed was looking a little chubby one day. The following evening I saw white stringy poop.
I stopped feeding for 2 days on the 2nd day did epson salt soak and then he let a normal color and size poop go after the soak and once he was back in the tank.
Then I fed him about 4 pellets of hikari bio gold, afer the normal poop was seen now. Today I go to check on him and I’m seeing a poop that is stringy but normal in color almost
Any input on if he’s just gettin over being constipated or maybe I should treat for something internal ?? At this point ?

He’s happy and will beg to eat
Temp is at 83
Water is always test 0 for everything i test it every 3-4 days nothing has changed as far as environment and conditions I even make sure when I do water changes the water is the same temp
Only thing I could say is I think my wife got some older okokio food and gave it to him not knowing I was only giving him hikari bio gold
The okokio has a lot higher protein so I’m thinking that’s why
But if anyone’s thinks internal parasites let me know
Any food advice I was reading maybe something more veggie bassed pellets from omega one ?
Thanks I’m advance

Well he’s still looking a little chubby
And I saw more thin white poop
Gave him another soak for about 15-17 mins
1 tablespoon per gallon
I’m just going to see if he passes any more poop
I’ve still held off on the food
Any input ? Or advice ?

Just noticed a bit more poop now about 30 mins after the salt soak.
It’s bulkier than earlier today still on the white stringy side
I’ll add a few pic of it and his belly
Mind you this is day 2 no food
My plan is too keep watching him and to hold out on feeding I’m hopyto see a more regular poop

I’m open ears to suggestion or advice from experience.
Thanks again guys

He does have white stringy poop. Mostly caused due to protozoans or maybe worms. In my case it were worms. So i had mine treated with EPSOM salt solution directly injected but didnt work for worms. Hence i treated the tank with levamisole and he got cured. if he is still accepting pellets you could try soaking it in EPSOM salt solution (You can find this in stickies). You mentioned about microscope so you could check for protozoans or maybe some kind of worms?

Thank you for the response
So basically I need to get me some levamisole and treat the tank according to the directions and read up on how to soak my food in epson salt.
Does this sound like I’m on the right track ?
Any recommendations on a brand levamisole? Or place to get maybe amazon ?

Followed the directions in the stickes for feeding with epson salt
After 4 days he seems to be back to normal as far as passing poo
Everything looks normal. I’m going to continue to
Watch him

I'm glad he seems to be recovering from his stomach upset. Honestly Silks have the weakest stomachs of all flowerhorns. If he already eats hikari cichlid gold I would look into offering him the hikari excell version of the food as well. Its a very high fiber and veggie based food. Any food that is high in spurlina is a good staple food for silks.
