Hey i was just wondering what would be some good tank mates for my fish?
In the tank is an Acei Cichlid and a Jewel Cichlid and a Highfin Spotted Pleco. I was hoping to put in a needle fish. What are your suggestions?

General rule for cichlids..... cichlids only (apart from some bottom dwellers)
I wouldnt bother with the needle fish, they get very big (60cm+) so ur gonna need a HUGE tank, and then it will kill your cichlids as it is a piscivore, providing the cichlids dont kill it while its small

Forget the needle fish its does quiet well on its own.It grows quite big and isnt suitable for a cichlid tank.I would suggest adding a single male convict either pink or black and blood parrot.

yes i know all about the size that it will get and know all about the cichlid rule. i was just hoping there was a loop hole i could get through with them haha. but the size wouldn't be a issue.

really a blood parrot would be good? i know that they grow much larger than either the jewel or the acei will grow. i have a blood parrot in another one of my tanks but he is almost triple the size of the jewel and acei. would that not pose a problem if i put them together at this stage?

It depends on the BP. They are pretty bold but I never see mine chasing anything but another BP. This changes when they lay eggs though, they will chase anything that comes near the nest. It only lasts a couple days and if nothing is there to fertilize them, they eat them and its business as usual.

yeah the only time i've seen mine chase anything was when i had an angel fish in with it, it never actually attacked it, it would just bolt at it and scare it off. and it chases the clown loach and the algae eater when there is food in the tank but when there is no food it is very peaceful and minds its own business.

Definitely DO NOT add a blood parrot. If anything, I would add another small African cichlid.

Yea I know, there should be NO suggestions unless we have the tank size, filtration, etc. Pick American of African cichlids. Dont mix them.
