Hello, i'll start by giving a backround story to my situation, ive recently set up my 120 gallon tank for a breeding pair of a large aggressive cichlid, i was going to many different shops looking for something cool to breed, i ended up finding an 10-11inch female jaguar for very cheap cause shes blind in one eye( previous owner kept fish with many dovii), once i purchased her i brought her home put her in the tank, the next day i went on a hunt for a male jaguar cichlid, by my surprise i found a lfs that had a 13 inch male jaguar they were dying to get rid of the owner gave him to me for $20 lol, apparently super aggressive almost killed a 24 inch pacu lol, anyways i go home add him in and from what ive read about jaguars if they dont like eachother theyll almost instantly go at it, so i put him in shes goes to instantly see him, they really werent aggressive to eachother at all lol, anyways right now its a day later and there just digging up a pit, dont really look like they have there breeding colours, but they always stay close by the pit they dug together. any opinions?

If they arn't going crazy on each other that's a very good thing. Digging is usually a sign of spawning and make pits so the the wigglers can be put into there after they choose a spot to lay eggs.
My advice is get a pot saucer a big one for them. Just to let you know you might think they're friendly but in a matter of seconds the male can snap and will kill female or the female kill male.

I'd have a divider ready to go to separate them if it gets rough. Introducing two adult fish is always a crap shoot, in my opinion.

You just tossed both big jags in with no introduction or anything?! All bets are off right now they're just adjusting to their environment. Once they get a little more comfortable no telling what will go down. Your one beast mode moment away from someone getting descaled.

You have LOTS of things working against you, and the fish, in this situation.
1. The Female is half blind, so at a HUGE disadvantage.
2. The tank is very small for 2 adult Jags.
3. Fish didn't grow up together.
4. There are only 2 fish in the tank.
5. Breeding will increase already high probability of a serious fight--and they're opposite sex so there will almost certainly be some kinda bio-chemical breeding type behavior, which often gets violent.
I think you need at LEAST another tank, preferably a second much bigger tank.
And then, what do you plan to do with the fry? You have a tank for them? Because, I have a Midas pair, and they only tolerate the fry for a few days. So, if you want to keep the fry, you need to have a tank for them up and running pretty much once the eggs are laid.

Are you in a position to get a bigger tank.... atleast a 240 gallon , if not more.

Also please read up about Jaguars... I once had a male who would not tolerate the female after it bred once... then it would outright kill it...after 2 disasters...he lived his life alone
