This is my planted tank that breaks all the so called rules. The only filter is an underground filter with a single bubble powered riser. I use no plant fertilizer, I just feed my fish very well and they feed the plants. I only do water changes every 6 months, if that. I never have to clean the glass and I do not even have a vacuum. I have an aquarium plant light and give the tank 9 hours of light per day on a timer. This tank is about 2 1/2 years old. The big angel I named Gabriel, but then she laid eggs a couple of weeks ago. Now she it Gabriella. My clean up crew are 6 Albino Cory cats, 2 Oto Cats and Snails. The snails are the kind that multiply like crazy, but they don't stand out in so many plants.
Oh, it is a 75 long on a double stand. Under it I am breaking down my 75 long saltwater tank. It had fish I caught in Galveston Bay. I am going to make a poor man's monster fish tank with a couple of Oscars a Pleco and driveway graven and rocks. I may wire some of the Anubias plants from my planted tank in it and plant some jungle val in the corners protected from the oscars with large rocks. If I can motivate myself, I could be putting fish the tank in a few weeks, depends on the cycle. But 3 or 4 baby fish in a 75 is no load.
