you should DEFINITELY keep one! a 3 foot wild eel would be amazing, what could be better than that?! I'd love to try catching and keeping an American Eel, i've still never seen a captive one, that would be awesome. Those guys are so mean it is absurd. Not to mention... they are TRUE eels, unlike these guys we keep (freshwater TTs and FEs).
