Some great looking dels, on this thread. Here is my contribution

Hey Serg, is that the same old substrate from back in the day?

Same type but it's not the same exact gravel. The original batch went to heather Aka thesquishy when she bought my old 120.

That planted setup is beautiful! How do you keep it looking that way? When I tried a heavy planted setup they would always uproot the sword plants and piss me off.

Love this thread - Dels are so cool looking, and were always a "for sure" on my list when first researching polys. Mine is WC so I won't post her here, but it's fun to look at all of the different photos back to back.

It makes me want to start a thread for each poly species so we can see photos of all of one species at a time and the variations, and the differences on substrate, too. For example, Burbotman's dark substrate and how it brings the black/dark base color forward. They are trying to camoflauge themselves. I wonder if that's why red works for contrast - they can't match that. ;)

That's so awesome! How long is he? Does he have a name?

He is just under 12" ( used to be spot on 12 but I swear he is shrinking) no name just the old del

Gravel- now that I look it is not the same multi colour as your old stuff, I still love size and shape!

I have now given up on swords, it is crypts and anubias. The crypts are survivors and root very strong in my pfs/blasting sand substrate. Last fall when I had to tear down the tank to move it when I re did my floor I decided to add more pfs to lighten things up a bit and get rid of the sad swords. I had to keep replacing them every few months. The crypts and anubias seen to thrive in my set up----very low tech--- I only plant the front middle of the tank as the rest gets flattened by the Bichir piles
