thanks bluegryffin, but i don't think its an ocellatum. the picture in the first link you listed in a Ctenopoma oxyrhynchum, which is a synonym for ctenopoma weeksii. my fish looks very similar to that one. i've looked at a few different pics of a ocellatum now and i'm pretty sure i don't have one. different markings and color. thanks tho.
