I am going to make my new tank into a ctenompoma/polypterus community. Leopards are awesome! Hopefully I can find some of the other species too. Kingsleyaye are very cool.

Cool pick I've had a leopard for 3 or 4 years now.

Has anyone kept Ctenopoma acutirostre is schols? My guy is kinda of a **** and he is going to get himself killed by my tire track. He used to pick fights with my Black ghost knife which was fine beause they size differnce wasn't so emense but he's dead. I just got a new tire track and the leopard is now picking on him. The tire track can easily kill him and I've seen him grab ahold of him and shake his head violently, but the leopard will go right back to hassiling him.

If I can't keep him with others of the same speices to occupy him does anyone have any suggestions. They're territories are on opposite ends of the tank. It's completely the leopard going over to the eels cave and swiming back in forth by the mouth of it till he irritates the eel enogh to start a fight. **** or not I don't want him to learn a lesson with his life.

you can keep them together if you introduced them to their tank as juvi's, or a new tank (or re-aquascaped) where they havent cliamed territories yet.

but im not sure how that would solve your problem of him harassing your eel. maybe he's just an aggressive lil bugger. mine are actually quite friendly. except if there are fish (or shrimp) it can fit in their mouth, then they go into ninja stalker mode >=)

I was thinking that maybe they could pick on each other. When he used to do this with my black ghost he never even ripped his fin, they were like an old married couple that loves each other but loves to fight, they used to hang out together amicably as well all the time.

I think he just does it to pass the time, my previous eel that was over 2' was very very chill (with any established tank mate, new ones he killed), but the eel I have now gets pissed off more easily I'm afraid I'm going to find him dead. I make sure to have good amount of snails so he can stalk things and he has plenty of his own space, he's not defending territory he's invading. I want to direct his behavior some where else thats why I was wondering if I could introduce a mate or friend of his own kind
