at our house we have 2 fischer love birds , five finches , four adult cockatiels an gonna take in another 3 baby cockatiels from a lady who cant care for them any more

im turning one of the bedrooms in our house into basically a big bird cage will make a 2x6 base for it where i make a water proof floor with a drain hole/hose that i can run through the floor to the laundry room underneath gonna basically make a double door entrance so i can make the whole room a bird cage is a 10'by14' room will make a caged wall across the room an leave 4' for a sitting area

if i had a camera i would post pictures

This is Mr. Cash. He is an 8 year old African Gray parrot.... he knows about two thousand words.. mostly he asks for "cookies" or asks to "come out" and he says "shut-up" and "be quiet" to the other parrots when they get noisy.. He always says goodnight and he laughs over anything.. a real high pitched belly laughter.. he is my delight and i cannot believe the big brain lodged in that tiny little head.. here he is playing get the napkin off the counter..he throws the napkin off the edge and then looks down onto the floor to see where it went.. he flips up into the air when the napking rolled into a ball comes at him.. i have to get him a little basket ball.. and i have to learn to do video because he is just that entertaining........here he is MR. Cash{i had to run to the bank and get my money} haha.. i will post my other two types of parrots .. but in the meantime let me see yours..............

Oh how nice. I heard they are the best talkers. There are wild Indian Hill Mynahs in the area .
I dont know if you know what they are they look like black ravens with yellow stripe on side of head and half moon conures neither is native.

To bad no African Greys lol

i have had her since she was 8 years old..She is still a teenager with a long life ahead of her... she can possibly go into her 60- 70's if healthy..i won't be around then... :( so i hope who ever gets my birds takes care of them... i take her out alot.. thats why she is so calm about it.. i weed the garden while she hangs out.. popping up and down... if something should scare her i will know it...:D

You need to move to Florida many have parrots, finches even peacocks out all yr long in outdoor avairys .

You would love it . I am going to try to catch a pic of the local half moon conures perched . You can hear them flying a mile away. I know you have Monk parrots in NY .
I have seen them imagine many in your area.

Have you ever been to Parrots of the world? In Rockville center Long Island.

Its not nearly as good now the old store was mostly birds . Now its more of a pet store less birds.

He has been on the Martha Stewart show (when it used to be on) talking about birds .
They had Marthas chinchilla barn -rare poultry collection AMAZING birds .

i used to live in Florida for about two years..my sisters use to keep their parrakeets and finches out in the cage on their screened in porches... once a snake slid through the bars of the cage and ate the parakeet and was too fat to slide back out so my sister had to see the bulge in the snakes belly... i like florida to visit but too hot and too humid for me... but yes i love the bird aviary setups you can put in your yard.i have the property here too... i qrew up on LI so i know Rockville center but i have never been there to the Parrots of the world... how neat that must be.I quess if you keep birds out all the time as they do in Florida you would have to keep spraying for mites and those no see ums.... i remenber those lol... i love keeping windows open instead of air conditioning but those things come right through the screen.. i quess i will take my winters... they can be brutal yes... but no bugs...

Yes its hot and humid . I just got back from fishing just sitting by the shore and soaked by the humidity.

I moved here from NY I HATE the cold but yes this is hot .

I love the nature like Iguanas and peacocks .

I thought about society finches for an outdoor avairy as LOVE finches was looking into society and owl finches but due to snakes .
Lots snakes in area and just that mites, ticks, mosquitos opted not to.

the lady around here with back yard birds uses mosquito net around her avairy but I dont like the look of that .

http://parrotsoftheworld.com/index.html the site list show times they are on . They have amazing birds like toucans, etc. If they ever have Martha Stewarts bird "room" you will be in awe.

They have that show once in awhile they show her fancy chicken collection and her parrot room which is just huge.

Nice is that what is also called a military macaw?

I dont think so, I do know they are sometimes called a nobel macaw if I am thinking of the right bird the military is as large as the blue and gold. The hahns is the smallist and quietist of all the macaws, that was the big selling point for me when my wife told me she wanted one
