1.This place is in Upstate NY, I think it's part of big sandy creek, not sure though.
2.The same place in NY, not sure what they little black things stuck to the rock are, some suggestions were leeches (no) or bug larvae of somesort. I was covered in them, but not at all parasitic!
3. A Chesepeake Bay Blue Crab, of course. One of his claws is soft.
4. My daughter's first catch, poor thing. There wasn't even bait on the hook!
5. Belostomatidae, huge nasty water bug that loves FW Ponds about the size of three pennies end to end.

I think that's called a giant water bug, for good reason. I saw one once while I was on a field trip to this big garden place, it was in there pond and it had a hard time moving around in an ice-cream bucket when we took it out. yea, they sting bad. I heard they can paralize your hand...

I was lucky to catch this picture today: The Jaguar "yawn". Jaggy is now 13" and growin'. The protractile (sp?) mouth of these guapotes is something else.
