I just let it grow, if it wanted to but I never saw any as the rocks were piled too high and thick to see the back of the tank.:)

how big are your cuban fry?? you could wrap from sponge around the filter to limit the sucking up of the fry, thats what im going to do:)

not a fan of wrapping sponge around the filter intakes, doesn't look too nifty with all the poo stuck to it;)

But yeah, gald he's eating and doing well for you.
