Guatape, Is not in San Rafael, Guatape is a small town located about 2 1/2hrs to 3hr drive from my San Rafael collecting point. The town Guatape bares a lake called Lake Guatape. It is a large lake not a river and is the collecting point for my LOCATION X.... YOU JUST CRACKED THE CODE FOR MY LOCATION X LOCATION :) with my help of coarse. Lake Guatape has a stunning population of Blue Umbriferus not Black Umbriferus. Congrats :) The river In San Rafael is Rio Playas or Empresas Playas. It is a river that has been damned for power and is surrounded by thick lush jungles. Here is a video of some of my fellow Colombiano's catching them there enjoy. San Rafael Black Umbee. The Black Umbees I collected were collected a Long ways from CHOCO :) and my pair B even further....... Enjoy

That very first pic is amazing with the black dorsal and half black pattern. Almost reminds me of certain Herichthys in breeding pattern.

And it is very nice to have a location. Looks a lot further north than I would have suspected Umbee's range, which is an awesome discovery.

Thanks brother, One thing I have learned about collecting Cichlids in the wild is that you can find them in places not mentioned in books. There range can expand further then whats mention in books.... More to be discovered and believe when I say there is more Strains of Blue Umbriferus out there besides what I have collected and besides whats been available in the hobby and same thing goes for the blacks......Thanks again

The first part of my video REALM OF THE UMBEE was filmed in San Rafael, Rio Playas. From start to 3 minutes and 59 seconds. All San Rafael from my 2010 collecting trip. Enjoy UMBEEPOWERRR
