I have seen them live...and I still think they sound like a bad 80s metal band. I never did say the guitarists suck, the vocals on the other hand...
 
The vocals for dragonforce are as bad as Avenged Sevenfold and the same guitar pitches and noises.

One (metallica) is by far one of my favourite songs on GH3. I first heard it when I was 8 or 9 and can never cease to air guitar the solo's. It was great to see it made an appearance. But if only they chose a better Slipknot song. :(
 
The whole band altogether sucks, is what I was getting at. The guitarist might be able to play fast, but that doesn't really mean squat when you can't stay in tempo live and your singer forgets half of his lyrics on stage...

YouTube some of their live stuff and you'll see what I'm getting at - a studio can make anything sound great, and when you've got the chance to do a 100 takes before somthing gets layed out on a record of course it's going to sound good.
 
If you want a decent metal / rock band, The Scorpions are unrivaled by ANY imo, and i saw them live 5 years ago! best gig EVER i left half way through judas priest who were on after they blowed

yeah.......i havn't even tried to play it! leave it to people who know :) wouldn't wanna spoil such a great thing
