My youngest jag. He has a real healthy set of teeth but keeps breaking them off moving rocks. Just about 12 inches right now and starting to thicken quite a bit although the angle of the shot doesn't show it. I like this guy a lot.

He takes your breath away.. he is totally awesome.

I've been a long time Managuense fan. What size tank are you keeping these guys in?

Here are some more recent pictures of mine. Probably the last pictures of them too, as they're supposed to be going to a new home soon. I've got a younger jag that's about 6" that will replace them. He's not as pretty but totally insane.

Thanks!
I've had him for about a week now. Got him from a lady that had no idea how to take care of him (she was only supposed to be babysitting for 2 weeks, but the owner just vanished and hasn't been heard from in 3 years, so its not like she decided to get a fish she knew nothing about). Poor bugger has spent the last 3 years living in a 25 gal tank with no heater, eating goldfish flakes (not to mention the thick layer of uneaten food all over the bottom of the tank, which btw only got cleaned every 6 months). I'm truely AMAZED that he's still alive. I have no experience with large fish and new world cichlids. I have 4 great big breeding electric yellows, so its not like he's my first ever fish. I've been interested in jags for a bit, so i've done quite a bit of research on them, but its still comforting to know that he's really hard to kill!

What a story with Marley.. that is great that he was able to still grow and thrive under those conditions and not show any wear or tear because of it.. i cannot amagine him having no heater.. and i am very happy that you have him under your wing now.. he is incredibly beautiful and jus amagine what he will look like with you even six months from now..best of luck to you and do not forget new pics ...
