Depends on the substrate you have.

shrimp and gobies fillter water my favs for gettin leftovers are dojo loaches get two they like to play for the glass find a pleco that stays small big ones do make a lot of waste

still human intervention
snails shrimps and plecos poop too
they may clean algae but will produce poop which the keeper will clean

if its algae i go for britlenose
if its leftover food i go for shrimp

but as said they both produce bioload

Silver mollies are nibble freaks. Mine is always rasping everything in the tank for algae, missed food, etc. Before my shrimp mysteriously died, he was every bit as thorough. And shrimp make tiny poops. But, as mentioned, all that eateth doth poop. Human intervention will indeed always be necessary.

well i'd love to throw a few algae eaters in there but i dont want them messing with my fire eel

If you have a fire eel you might want to be careful introducing a pleco. Plecos have a reputation of sucking slime coats of other slow moving bottom dwellers. Does'nt always happen, but it can. Others may say they only suck slime coats when underfed. I can tell you IME that IS NOT TRUE. I am not saying a pleco WILL suck the slime coat but just keep an eye on it if you do decide to introduce one.

i actually have a pleco now with him in there and he NEVER touches him. but yeah, plecos are prone to do that, except the large ones cuz they're so damn lazy and slow. the one i have is like 4" - 5" inches, but i almost wanna trade him for a REALLY small, like baby king tiger pleco
