Post your showtanks.................

It is kind of bittersweet looking through this thread. There are some amazing looking tanks. But there are also some that just seem way overcrowded. I have stepped away from typical stocking guides and base stocking more on water quality, but even then there is an upper limit, and I think quite a few of those tanks exceeded this.

I also don't care at all for bare tanks crammed with oddballs. Quite a few of these were just painted glass, water, and fish. I don't think this is very good for the fish. Their natural environments are so much more than bare walls, I don't think it is healthy for them to be in a sterile box just for the fishkeeper to sit and look at them.

There are also quite a few fish that should not be in the hobby at all (pacus, redtail catfish, etc.). We need to get the largest tank possible and then accept its limitations. Pacus, arowanas, redtail catfish, and larger rays should not be in the size tanks that some of them are in pictured in this thread.

I know most people won't agree, but this is my opinion. An advanced site like this should set an example to the hobby. Many of these tanks did this, but many are just the exact reason many of the fish pictured shouldn't be in the hobby.

He's not just dissin' other people's tanks. He's just stating his opinion that our hobby should be about creating the best environment possible (within our means) for these awsome animals. It shouldn't be about cramming big fish into a box and treating them like a decoration or a status symbol. These are living pets that should be cared for accordingly.

Exactly.

It is nothing against anyone in particular on here (that is why I didn't name names or quote anyone's post or picture). But there are tanks in this thread that I disagree with, enough that I think it warrants something being said about it. Some of these tanks are just bare, like sticking your dog in a concrete room and expecting it to be happy.

This is a good thread we should bring this one back.

Lets throw it way back.
I miss these fish dearly.
They didnt make the move last year...
Would be over 6 years old now ;(
