He's very cool. I want to get some type of mud/musk turt again, I used to have some striped muds and a loggerhead musk...maybe when I get my turts into a bigger tank.

And that one box you've got has more yellow than I've ever seen in a box...call it a morph, High Yellow Eastern Box $$$ hehe.

Musk and Mud turtles are great pets. I wish they sold them in pet stores instead of Sliders. They just make for better captives plus they're hardy, stay small and don't have much of UVB requirements, tank size, etc...
I'd like to pick up a Kinosternon scorpioides cruentatum- Red-Cheeked Mud Turtle, sometime.

Yeah, she's a great looking turtle, I hope she will lay some eggs for me this summer. High yellow, hmmmm....I like the sound of that!

LLLReptile has red cheeks from time to time. Never bought a turt from them but I have bought snakes with no problems.

Yeah sliders really are a poor choice for the average turtle keeper. My YBS is only a year old and he's pushing 9", he's grown much faster than my Mississippi map. And he's a male...a female would be even bigger. Luckily no problems between them so far, though I have to feed them separately because he's such an aggressive feeder; the map would never get any food.

Another comment for Vicious. I have never seen any box turtles with colors that intense!!!!!!! That yellow and orange one is amazing!!!!!!

Thanks man! Sparky is my favorite turtle and she's got great colors and a great personality. As soon as she sees me, she crawls over as fast as her little 4 feet can move her to greet me (well, beg for food really). I've had her for almost 21 years now and I'd hate for anything to ever happen to her.

Shelly is a great looking turtle but she drives me nuts. She took forever to go into hibernation this year, that and she's very shy around people.

man you so have to find a male that will match those two... You just have to get some young from them in the next year or two.

Well I do have a male, but I might swap him with my friend who has an even nicer one. He's nothing special, but he does have a lot of orange skin. And I've never seen one with pink eyes before.

Well I already have 3 females. I would definitely need to keep the males separate. They do fight and can stress each other out as well as the other turts.

I like all shots (and videos) you guys have posted! I'm always interested in the setups other people are using as well.

This is one of 150 gallon plywood breeding tanks for my Pelusios castaneus.

The two below are my winter tanks for Cuora amboinensis & Chrysemys p. marginata. Both groups live in the pond during the summer. Each tank is 50 gallons leading up to a 50 gallon nesting areas

I agree with Vicious Fish in regards to seeing more mud and musk type turtles offered in the pet stores. They really are a better choice for the beginner and individuals that don't want to invest large amounts of space to turtles, especial those species that exceed the 8"-12" SCL and are 5-25lbs.

If you're interested I have more pictures of my turtle tanks and pond on my website: Pelomedusa.com along with how I built them.
