Eric A, go back and look at the picture, the monster I'm talking about is not the pacman but the other cat next to it. The first part of its scientific name is Silurus XXXXXXX. You fill in the blank and will know what it is :)

I'm with you Eric I'll be getting another planiceps. Awesome fish with a monster personality and growth rate that rivals a rtc!

thanks Eric A! Yes it does look like a wallago, they look very much a like.

Necro, you have a planiceps currently or had one?

Had one two years ago. He and the big boy didn't play nice when I tried to house them together. AKA the big boy ripped it's tail off.

LOL, if you put this one up against the picture of the real glanius above I would say this is the wels!

seems to me the wels has a longer thin body and that the wallago has a shorter body and thicker.

They are a very attractive catfish imo. They beasts also though. If anyone does get one just know that they can be very aggressive, and have a huge head and mouth. We all know what that means. I think their tail is very attractive when swimming. Growth rate is just unimaginable. Can't wait to own another one. Took me 7 years to find that first one, and I was stupid about it because I did not have an extra tank set up for when it got too large, but not large enough to go in with the big boy. That won't happen again.

Won't happen again because you have a big enough tank for your smaller cats to stay well away from the big boys in case of aggression.

If I ever got a planiceps it would be a sealed room deal.
