Dig....where's the spell-check button on this thing?:confused::screwy:

That's a cool Idea, same simple design some people use in a smaller sump by using the plastic drawers.

Seems like it should work just fine. Although I caution that there might be simple, cheaper, mor effective ways of accomplishing the same end results.

I've had a similar Idea, but instead I was toying with the notion of stacking a few 5 gallon buckets!

I was looking at
(3) - 3 gallon buckets, seperated with egg crate, in a 35 gallon drum

I would think that there are only two benefits to this type of filter over a traditional Wet/Dry.
1. Increased Oxygen content of the water from it being "Airborne"/surface agitation.
2. Looks cool as h@##

A typical wet/dry should serve the same purpose, and you could build it with less pieces and possible a little more options. All you have to do to compesate when using a sump is to ensure that you ahve a taller sump and allow the water to fall over the Bio media in lieu of submersing the media entirely. Plus, by using buckes inside a drum is not all that visually appealing.
In the end, it boils down to you preference and I encourage you to build what you think would be best. But before you decide, I encourage another browse through the DIY forum to see what options there are to be had.
