POT SCRUBBIES/lava rock/etc for FILTER--no bio-balls

i got lava rock and allot of it off ebay for cheap

i was at lowes 2 days ago, and they had several pallets of lava rock. pebbles, and rock(apx. 1 to 2" pieces). i think they were a little under $5 a bag.

can you just use any lava rock or is there a certain kind
